CCTV drainage surveys could save you thousands of pounds. Evaluate the state of your existing sewer connections or check connections to public sewers before you undertake any work with this no-dig option.
Do you have a drain problem, but you’re not sure where in the pipework it is?
A CCTV survey offers a no-dig option that could save you time and money. The survey will localise where the problem is within the run, and the report will suggest how it can be rectified.
We advise having a CCTV survey to properly evaluate any sewer connections you are planning on working with, as well as to identify drainage problems in your pipework.
What is a CCTV Drainage Survey?
CCTV drainage surveys work by feeding a specially designed camera down the drain to carry out an inspection. The camera sends live footage to a screen allowing our engineers to examine the drain and accompanying data. Based on the data recorded, we can provide feedback on any problems found and make clear recommendations on how to solve them.
What can a CCTV Drainage Survey tell me?
CCTV Drain Surveys can identify:
- Blockages and leaks
- Displaced joints
- Minor and major tree root ingress
- Corrosion, wear and tear
- Cracked and collapsed drains
- Scale build-up
- Signs of poor insulation or displacement
CCTV drainage surveys allow data to be gathered safely and conveniently without excavation. They can be used to investigate drain and sewer problems, such as blockages, poor flow rates and pollution incidents, or to support construction projects by identifying and evaluating drain connections to meet regulatory controls.
CCTV surveys can also be used for pre-adoption inspections where building contractors demonstrate the condition of drainage assets before they are handed over to clients.
How can a CCTV Drainage Survey help me with drainage problems?
If the CCTV drainage survey shows defects, your drainage company will be able to help you find the right solution. For example, at Premier Drainage Solutions, we can carry out pipe lining using either a localised patch repair, or the entire length of pipe to the public sewer, after undertaking a survey.
CCTV footage of the re-lining can then be submitted with an indirect application to the water authority (for example, Thames Water, Anglian Water, or Southern Water) if necessary.
What does a CCTV Drainage Service include?
At Premier Drainage Solutions, our CCTV service includes:
- Fully qualified camera technicians to carry out the survey.
- Analysis from the latest Wincan V8 software.
- Detailed reports and maintenance recommendations.
- DVD footage.
Different uses of CCTV drainage surveys:
Locating drain and sewer blockages:
Cameras can be used to find the cause of pipe blockages, allowing us to assess the best way to clear them. Before and after footage can also be recorded as evidence that the work has been carried out and the pipe is clear and in good condition.
Drain and sewer inspections:
A survey can be used to carry out quick and simple drain and sewer inspections on urgent projects, or asset condition surveys, in place of a full survey.
Full CCTV drainage surveys:
CCTV drainage surveys allow the gathering of a range of data for planning use. This usually includes:
- CCTV survey vehicle with a purpose-built viewing area from which the operator has full control of the equipment. Jetting machines are also housed in the rear of the vans so that the pipework is clean and free from blockages.
- Full reports generated via WinCan with an accompanying DVD that shows lengths of pipes, flow directions and flow rates along pipes, pipe falls and the locations of any pipe defects.
CCTV Drainage Survey Reports
You will receive a detailed drainage report with recommendations for any further work needed. DVD footage is also supplied. This data can be easily understood and analysed, then incorporated into any works planning needed.
